Ivy Anderson is a fiber artist based in Savannah, Georgia. She holds an MFA in Fibers from the Savannah College of Art and Design and a BA in Fashion Design from Indiana University, Bloomington.

Anderson’s practice centers on machine knitting as a sculptural and installation-based medium. Her ongoing series of Somethings abstracts discarded objects through knitted textile membranes, engaging themes of transformation, perception, and absurdity. Working almost exclusively with elastic yarn, she allows her materials to orient her, creating adaptable forms that stretch, ooze, and envelop — a tactile language of tension.

Anderson has held multiple artist residencies—including with the SCAD Alumni Atelier and the Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum—and her work has been exhibited nationally in both solo and group exhibitions. Her practice is informed by global research, from Japan to Italy, and her work has been recognized with numerous awards, including honors from the International Design Awards, Surface Design Association, and the prestigious Red Dot Design Awards. Alongside her studio practice, she has taught workshops at institutions like the SCAD Museum of Art and the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, sharing her expertise in fibers techniques with diverse audiences.
