On the wall

Abstracted within layers of knitted elastic, I use found objects to disrupt the classic rectangular form. The familiar rigidity of the shape is undone as the membranous surface swells and bends around the structure beneath it. A single object becomes the generative force of the composition, distorting both the panel and the textile stretched across it. Where the knitted membrane in Somethings obscures and destabilizes clusters of objects, here the relationship shifts: the object presses outward, warping line, color, and pattern. The textile becomes the site of transformation, shifting the flat plane into an architectural surface of tension.
